Carl Jung: I am sorry that the news about Victor White is so bad

Letters Volume II

To the Mother Prioress of a Contemplative Order

Reverend Mother, 29 April 1960

I am very sorry indeed that the news about Victor White is so bad and the end apparently so near.

If you have any chance to let him know about myself I should be much obliged if you would tell him that I am

at peace with him and that he should not worry any more.

I am quite convinced of his sincere and human loyalty.

I am sorry if I should have upset him by my attempt to explain to him the reason for a certain critique I had to make.

In my le􀂂er to him which contains the explanation, I also told him that it did not ma􀂂er and he should not worry about it.

I don’t know what more I could tell him to reassure him of my feeling.

If I were young and could trust my physique I would certainly come over to England and reassure him of my personal feeling.

Unfortunately, however, extravagances are out of the question.

So I would be most obliged if you would kindly let him know of my letter to you.

He has sent his new book to me which I am going to read just now (having had to finish another book first).

I am very interested in it and it was my intention to write to him only after having gone through his book as carefully as possible.

I am afraid the reading will take some time.

Under these circumstances I would perhaps do better if I wrote to him soon.

Sincerely yours,

C.G. Jung Carl Jung, Letters Vol. II, Page 552
