Letters Volume II

To K. Neukirch

Dear Frau Neukirch, 13 June 1958

Of course you can dream of the sun!

Here is an example: a lady I was treating dreamt that she saw a sunrise.

She saw the sun rising up, half hidden behind the roof of my house.

Above it, as though written in the sky, was the Latin word exorietur: “It will rise.”

The point is that a great light had dawned on her during the treatment.

The only odd thing is how anybody could get the idea that you  can’t dream of the sun!

Yours sincerely,
