Hearty thanks for the News Letter and best wishes for the New Year! I am glad you have done your best for X.
It really is a problem:
Why the suffering? Why the torment of dying?
Why does anything good have such difficulty in appearing?
Why the painful separation from the dead?
Occasionally a gleam of goodness breaks through.
Thus on New Year’s Eve I had a great dream about my wife, which I will tell you sometime.
It seems that individuation is a ruthlessly important task to which everything else should take second place.
Evidently I still don’t know this well enough, even now.
Hoyle’s book has arrived and I’ve finished it already.
It is extraordinarily interesting to see how an astronomer collides with the unconscious and especially with the Ufo problem.
What a pity my little book is already in print!
Hoyle has the rotundum, the doctrine of the Anthropos, the cosmic wisdom of matter, which he naturally confuses with consciousness, and so fails to do justice to the problem of suffering.
But it is extremely stimulating!
I am a bit less tired, but it’s slow going.
