Best thanks for your interesting article on “The Vanished One.”
I had seen it already as I often read the Basler Nachrichten.
I particularly liked the historical parallels and your remark that Hitler represents the heights and the depths of the German nature with painful exactitude.
He really is the incarnation of the German’s psychopathic inferiority, which also accounts for the German’s feeling of national inferiority.
The inferiority complex is always found just at the place where it does not belong.
Your article reminds me that a little while ago I wrote something which I a m still not sure whether I can use or not.
I would like to submit it to your excellent judgment, so that you can tell me what you think of it and whether one can say such things out loud at all without being suspected of utter crankiness.
At bottom I am convinced of the soundness of my reflections, but making them plausible is another matter.
So I would first like to hear your opinion before anything further is done with this cuckoo’s egg.
In any case please regard it simply as grateful response to your pungent remarks about Germany.
