I was compelled to ask myself in all seriousness, “What is the myth you are living?” … I simply had to know what unconscious and preconscious myth was shaping me, that is, what kind of rhizome I arose from.
This resolve led me to my years of exploration into the subjective contents produced by unconscious processes, to work out the methods that would partly make possibly, and partly assist in, the practical exploration of the manifestations of the unconscious. Carl Jung, Jung: A Biography, Page 13
